Phillip Dutton Eventing Camp

Where:   Dutton Eventing Academy, West Grove, PA

When: June 1 – June 6, 2008 and September 14 – 19, 2008

  • Camp participants should arrive on Sunday, June 1st  (or September 14th) between noon and 6pm, and depart by 5pm on Friday, June 6th  (or September 19th).

  • Riding Instruction:  Phillip Dutton, Boyd Martin, and Silva Martin.  Phillip and Boyd will focus on jumping, Silva will focus on dressage.  Camp participants will ride 1-2 times per day. 

  • Educational Presentations: Veterinarians, Fitness Experts, Equipment Selection and Suitability, Grooming, Training, Mental and Physical Preparation of Horse and Rider, Warm-Up Techniques, Dealing with Nerves

  • Horse Fitness/Training Assessment:  Evaluation by Phillip Dutton (written evaluation provided to student at end of camp week).

  • Horsemanship:  You will be surrounded by Internationally Competitive riders and grooms, and will gain education and knowledge about equipment, grooming techniques, travel, safety, and many important topics

  • Hospitality Tent:  Includes massage chair and other amenities.

  • How many Students:  25-student limit per camp.  Instruction will be in small groups of 2-5

  • Level:  (Beginner Novice equivalent) up to Advanced

  • Age Restriction:  Minimum age of 13, if student is under 17 must be accompanied by parent or responsible adult

  • What is Included:  Lessons each day, educational presentations, breakfast and lunch each day, three group dinners, stabling.  Students will be responsible for their own lodging and take care of their own horse(s).

  • Price:  $2,050 if paid in full on or prior to April 15, 2008.  $2,250 if paid in full after April 15, 2008.  (Dates applicable for June Camp).

  • Refunds:  Full refund if cancellation before May 1,  2008.  If cancellation after May 1, 50% of entry will be refunded in cash and 50% of entry will be refunded as a “credit” for future camps or clinics at Dutton Eventing Academy.  (Dates applicable for June Camp).

  • Auditing:  Camp participant is allowed one person (groom, parent, friend) to audit lessons and educational presentations.  Additional people can audit for $25/day or $100 for entire week.  These additional people can also purchase tickets for group meals.

  • What to bring:  Approved helmet (to be worn at all times while mounted), riding breeches, half chaps or riding boots, safety vest, hay and feed for your horse, water buckets, tack, stall cleaning equipment, horse bedding (bedding must be straw and can be purchased from Dutton Eventing Academy).  Please leave your dog at home.
